Prior to enrollment, your child's strengths and needs are measured, analyzed and discussed in terms of fluency and accuracy. During the assessment we examine basic foundational elements such as: fluency in foundational skills, phonics, pre-reading skills, reading fluency and comprehension, and spelling. Your child's scores will be assessed using research-based methods.
Furthermore, we complete a series of grade-level standardized tests, analyzing where your child is for reading (decoding), and spelling.
Each assessment includes a summary explaining what was found during the assessment, as well as an in-depth consultation with the assessor.
Following the assessment, we produce a summary of your childs needs, and advise if we believe we can help your child succeed. Once your child is enrolled, we conduct assessments every 30 hours to ensure progress is being made.
We do not simply tutor children, we remediate in order to terminate or reduce the root cause. Tutoring is an easy fix to an underlying setback; it allows a child to get by and pass a class but does not allow a child to change a learning behavior. We work towards developing a strong base or foundation where other centers may focus on the obvious problem or current struggle for the student.
A typical schedule during the school year is two times per week for an hour and a half each session (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday). We offer more intense sessions during our summer sessions, in which students come Monday-Friday. These sessions are very productive and effective because of the intensity and consistency.
We typically work with students of any age.
Parents should look for multiple behaviors or warning signs which may signal their child may be at risk in their educational life.
If you are noticing your child struggling in any of the following areas:
Frustration, pronunciation problems, difficulty decoding (or sounding out) new words, unable to complete tasks efficiently, poor spelling, poor organizational skills, unable to complete homework independently, little class participation, difficulty remembering math facts, slow or illegible writing, experiences mental fatigue frequently, or difficulty remembering directions.
When parents and educators observe many of these warning signals and are able to get help, most children experience success in matching their performance to their potential.
